About the project
Authorship is how science keeps score. Who is listed first, who is listed last, and who is left off shapes careers, funding and recognition for years afterward.
The Franklin Project counts the names. Each month we review research published by scientists at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and local institutions, track how many of the authors are women and where they appear in the author list, and publish what we find for students, researchers and anyone who wants to see the numbers for themselves.
